Follow The Christ - The Jehovah's Witness Trap for Catholic New Yorkers
Dear Catholic Youth, Young Adults, Leaders, Parents and Pastors
In a few days or so many of your parish members will be given a flyer inviting them to attend an event sponsored by the local "Kingdom Hall". This is to attract luke-warm Catholic's within your parishes, and fallen away Catholic's to participate in this event titled, "Follow the Christ".
They have gone to apartment complexes, neighboring churches, and any place where they can post and hand this invitation to win Catholic's away from Jesus. They are doing this throughout New York and New Jersey as well as throughout the United States (Click for more Info - Follow The Christ). Jersey City will be the location for the next JW's Convention, dated for June 8-10. Not to far from Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, Queens, Long Island and Upstate New York.
An image of Jesus is shown on the front page to give the impression that they to are followers of Jesus, hence trapping luke-warm Catholics into believing that they are Christians. It is important to keep in mind that Jehovah's Witness are not Christians since they do not at all believe in the Trinity as Catholic Christians believe.
Also, they put forth a question to luke-warm Catholic Christian's on how following "the Christ" can help you to fix your family life, deal with difficulties in life, how to get closer to God, how to fight the devil, and how to gain everlasting life? This is a way to tap into hearts of broken Catholics, winning them to their beliefs, and later teaching anti-Catholicism.
Catholics who are uninformed of their faith can easily be persuaded to follow the confusion and religious errors of the Jehovah's Witness.
WHAT CAN WE DO?
On the invitation sheet "Follow the Christ", they will have 4 lectures and 1 dramatized story based on Colossians. The topics are as listed:
1) God's Word "Is Alive and Exerts Power"
2) Husbands, Wives, Parents, Children - Follow the Model!
3) Precious Gems From the Sermon on the Mount
4) Who Are The Real Followers of Christ?
5) (Drama) Full Costume Bible Drama - based on Colossians 3:12
DHT would like to recommend to youth and young adult leaders, catechist teachers, organizations that promote and teach the faith, and pastors (together with their brother priests, deacons, and religious) to form a plan of action using these topics and drama. Youth and Young Adult leaders can work closely with Catechists to create a prayerful lecture series for youth, young adults and parents who struggle with personal issue, connecting it to the Teachings of the Church. Many organizations within the Archdiocese of New York, especially in other Dioceses in the State of New York can help in giving resources and support by providing speakers and teachers to help form Catholics in your parish and community. Priests and Deacons can give a series of talks within the Mass. A great way to explain the faith to both strong and luke-warm Catholics. Groups within parishes could promote the Mass and the talks throughout neighborhoods connected to the parish. This is not to judge JW's as evil people, we simply are bringing people to know Jesus as He revealed Himself to His Church. We should do it with the theme of "God is Love" and "Sacrament of Charity".
